In the south of France, the Var is a paradise of
greenery protected by Provence and the
Mediterranean shores.
The Var coast is like no others: it runs 430 km
where one sandy beach follows another quiet creeks
and umbrella pines. Famous stations are dotted along
the seaside which gives the area its fame: Bandol,
Hyères, Les palmiers, Bormes les Mimosas, Le
Lavandou…. The famous islands of Porquerolles,
Port-Cros and Le Levant are close to Hyères and the
peninsula of Giens. Inland offers a great contrast,
particularly in the valley of Argens which curves
among olive-trees hills, vineyards and forests. This
valley is also rich in historical architecture (Royal
Convent of Saint Maximin La Sainte Beaume, Abbey
of Thoronet, Castle of Entrecasteaux...). One can
visit the Verdon after having passed the mountain
villages which made the history of this country.
The Var offers exceptional
views between sea and mountains, and a generous
climate. Its environment has preserved all its quality
and authenticity much better than the neighbouring
region. The implementation in the entire district of
constructing regulations and protection rules of
woody countryside and seashore allows to preserve
the natural beauty of Provence.
